Nathan(Zekun) Zhang

Mr Nathan Zhang is an emerging and professional pianist. He has performed recitals alongside his studies in many cities in China, and a few cities in the United States of America, such as Portland and Seattle, where he has had master classes with Prof. Alexander Tutunov.

 

He has been ranked No.1 in the result list of the entrance examinations in the Guangxi Art University in China, where he studied with pianist Mr. Sifan Chen (A.D., Paris Con). 

In 2019, he received the Robert Dalley-Scarlett Memorial Prize from the University of Queensland whilst completing a Master of Music.

 

In 2020, he was offered the opportunity to complete a PhD in studies and research in piano performance at the University of Queensland’s School of Music due to his exemplary knowledge of music. He is currently a PhD candidate and is being supervised by Dr Anna Grinberg and Dr Simon Perry. 

 

Nathan believes learning piano is an important lifetime learning experience for all children to enjoy, with many beneficial outcomes in their mental and educational development. After over 10 years of teaching, he has guided many young musicians to improve their performance skills and establish a proper understanding of the varied range of musical styles. Subsequently, his students have been accepted in many prestigious universities around the world, such as the Paris Conservatoire, the Music Institute of Chicago, the Public University of Washington, the Wuhan Conservatory of Music, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and Sejong University.
